Have you ever thought becoming a teacher? Mr. Shepley has done just that! He is a first year science teacher here at EMS on the Phoenix Team. He did not always want to be a teacher, however. He was more interested in architecture and building. It was not until around 2016 he knew he wanted to be a middle school teacher. Last year Mr. Shepley went through the UVM graduate program and worked as a student teacher at Williston Central School. Though this internship, he had to take over as a full time teacher for a couple weeks at Williston.
“This gave me a good inside look on how it would be being a full time teacher,” Mr. Shepley said. “Becoming a full time teacher is definitely a learning experience. It has been a big change, but a good change,” said Mr. Shepley.
His experience here has been great so far with his colleagues and students being nice and supportive. He really likes the layout of the school and believes it really prepares students for high school. Overall he is really enjoying teaching here at EMS and is looking forward to more years to come.
