Delta Report: Science is for the Birds

By Lucas St. Hilaire Delta Report

Has anyone been wondering what the bird feeders behind the school are for? Well, I will tell you! The Delta team has been busy making bird feeders in science class. They are not only making bird feeders but they are also finding the weaknesses and strengths to birds abilities. Students picked a question to focus on and made two bird feeders to see what happened. For example, one group decided to do their question on, do birds need to be able to see the feeder from the sky to know if it was there. Another group focused on if birds would like sugar covered bird seed better than normal bird seed. After the groups were done making their bird feeders they observed and took data to what was happening. Some groups found some shocking results to the birds ability to find food and others didn’t get any activity at their bird feeder. After the experiment was over students wrote about and graphed their results to show birds abilities to find food. The Delta team really liked this project and said they would like to do it again!
